Abstract
Fodor citizen does not exist: structure and function in cognitive processes.- The aim of this paper is to present a critical analysis of Fodor's theory from an evolutionary point of view. Special attention is given both to (1) certain philosophical aspects of its dualism, and (2) some consequences coming from the reduction of his theory to functional aspects. There are also included references to alternative models, like connectionist ones. Between them a special attention is paid to Changeux's theory of "mental darwinism".
