Abstract
Social, support networks and health. The purpose of this article is to provide an overview of social support as it affects health and well-being. The following goals have been established in the revision of this topic: (a) to set the basis for an integrated conceptual framework where social supports are inserted; (b) to provide better understanding of concept and characteristics of social supports; (c) to determine its effects on health, health behavior, and illness, and ways of action; (d) to examine social networks particularly in Schizophrenia; and (e) lo discuss its current status and draw up conclusions and implications for further research.
