Abstract

Personality in mountaineers vs. other mountain-related sportsmen.- The present study investigated the relationship between some personality traits and participación in high physical risk sports. 27 alpinists, 72 mountaineering related sportsmen and 54 subjects not engaged in any risky activity, were administered the IVE and the Socialization Scale of the CPI. The results seem to indicate that there exists a personality profile of subjects engaged in high physical risk normative activities who share the following characteristics: extraversion, emotional stability, conformity to social norms, and seeking thrill and experience by socializad means.
