Abstract
The Velten mood induction procedure: A literature review. The studies using the Velten procedure to provoke depressive and anxious mood states are reviewed. A question which has attracted the researcherers'attention is the possible explanation of the Velten's effectiveness. That is, which of its different elements- e.g. types of self-statements, instructions can account for the results obtained. Another important issue is the existence of mediator variables in the appearance of negative mood states. Finally, the few articles which also assess changes in physiological variables are also reviewed. Limitations of the studies presented are analyzed and suggestions for future research are offered.Downloads
