Abstract

Differential perceptive patterns and the environmental role. This study attempts to investigate the implications of husband/wife role on the perception of the same residential environment, which may influence decisión-making in the planning and design of residential areas. In order to attain this objective, two different samples were used, each of 40 couples. The first of these samples consisted of residents in a public housing development and the second of residents in terraced private dwellings. The instrumental used were a questionnaire on residential satisfaction and an Ideal Residential Quality Profile, in which 40 perceived attributes concerning actual and ideal residential environment, were subjected to various techniques of multidimensional analysis. The result obtained indicate the influence of variables such as stage in the life cycle or occupation on the establishment of Husband/wife environmental role.
