Abstract
Cerebral lateralization, cognitive styles and visual information processing. The objective of the present researches has been to assess cerebral lateralization according to analytic-holistic dichotomy in the analysis of visual information, and to study the relationship between processing strategy and the cognitive style "field dependence-independence". Two experiments have been carried out with verbal and visuospatial stimuli, but evidence has not been found for analytic-holistic dichotomy in the description cerebral specialization. In the same way, the findings do not support that field dependence subjects are specialized for global processing and field independence subjects employ local processing. The results have been explained with reference to the presence of stimulus and procedure variables that favour a holistic processing.Downloads
