Abstract
Effects of haloperidol on catalepsy in male mice. In the present experiment the cataleptic effect of haloperidol in mate mice was studied using the bar test. Succesive behavioral evaluations, 35 and 120 minutes after a unique ip administration of haloperidol (0.4, 0.7 and 1 mg/kg) or saline were carried out. The results showed a dose-dependent increment of catalepsy. A second injection was given after a ten days interval to explore a possible sensitization effect but such on effect was not found for any of the doses studied. The results of the evaluations after 35 minutes did not differ from those obtained after 120 min in any of the experiments.
