Abstract

Relaxation and medular neurostimulation in the chronic low back pain. The study analyses the influence that the method of progressive relaxation by Jacobson possesses, as the aid of medular neurostimulation in pain reduction in patients, whom, after being surgically intervined for herniation of the lumbar disc, continue post-operatively with chronic pain due to epidural fibrosis. The sample (N=20) is made up of 14 men an 6 women taken from the "Group of Pain" of the Hospital Central of Asturias, divided at random into two groups the (N=10) experimental group and the control group (N=10). The duration of the treatment has been 6 weeks, with a follow-up three months. The results are proof that progressive training in relaxation provoke a reduction in the intensity of pain (50%) and the Lattinen Index (50%) with an increase in estimation of improvement (60%) and activities of distraction (75%). The number of horas of sleep which not are modified.
