Abstract
Theoretical pluralism and social behaviour. Why is there not only one theory? Why are there many theories? Are all the theories epistemologically equal? Which is the real theory? Is there any relationship between theory, crisis and criticism? This paper intends to answer this questions. For this it distinguishes various formalization levels of theory, specially it analyzes two of them (paradigms and metaparadigms), and considers about the background of theoretical pluralism relating this with critical science. The model presented can be useful for the construction and criticism of theories.
