Abstract

Game theory and Type-A behavior pattern: Competitiveness and hostility factors. In the present study we emphasize the important and usefulness of the Game Theory in the empirical verification of the two factors that are involved in Type-A Behaviour Pattern (TABP) such as competitiveness and hostility. Using two classical game plays (Prisoner's Dilemma and Chiken Game), we try to establish the possible differences in cooperative elections between Type A subjects (competitive and hostile) and Type B. We also have studied in which way the expectancies related to possible opponent behaviour may influence. Results show that, at a general level and taking into account the factors studied, the competitiveness is the only component of TABP that can be considered as a valid predictor in respect to the degree of competitiveness that subjects will develop in thesse games.
