Abstract

Functional stimuli classes and contextual control in conditional discriminations. Conditional discrimination procedures have lead to analyze several behavior emergence processes. This kind of studies have lead to define stimulus classes as sets of stimuli that are exchangeable in a given context under certain conditions. Besides stimulus classes defined by Sidman and Tailby (1982), there are other types of stimulus classes, according to several discrimination procedures. Moreover, when there are two sample stimuli in a conditional discrimination, the relations among stimuli become more complex and, then, the membership of a stimulus to a class depending on the context may vary.
