Abstract

Detection of spatial frequencies on albino and pigmented mice (I. Males). Detection of high contrast stationary spatial frequencie, measuring by the learning response in 60 trials, has been studied in 52 male albino mice. The frequency sensitivity curve (FSC) shows a reverse U shape between 0.08 c/° and 0.35 c/° with a maximum response at medial spatial frequencies, atenuation of the responses at low frequencies (0.08 c/°) and an estimated cut-off frequency in between 0.40-0.45 c/°. Detection of high spatial frequencies (values at limit for albino mice) has also been studied in 12 pigmented mice. Mean responding rates and frequency cut-off are lower in albino than in pigmented mice.
