Abstract

Effects of information about the menstrual cycle on the attitude towards to menstruation. The aim of this paper is to analize the relationship between the access to adequate information about the menstruation and the attitude towards it. Comparisons were made between two groups of eight women each, one of which received an informative talk about the menstrual cycle. The attitude was measured by a modified version of Menstrual Attitude Questionnaire (MAQ). The influence of the menstrual symptoms was controlled by the Menstrual Distress Questionnaire (MDQ). Attitudes were measured immediately after the talk and a month later. The group which received the informative talk showed a significantly more positive attitude towards menstruation with respect to the control group at short term (t = 4.647; p < 0.001) and long term (t = 4.234; p < 0.001). The positive relation between adequate information and the improvement of attitude towards to menstruation was confirmed.
