Abstract

Invariance in factorial structure of Raven test in delinquent and non delinquent groups. This paper analyzes the performance of a delinquent and a non-delinquient group of young males with a similar educational level in the Raven Standard Progressive Matrices test. The comparison of the direct acores shows a lower performance for the delinquent group. A multigroup confirmatory factor analysis is used to assess if the factor structure of the test is essentially the same in both groups and the results suggest that the differences found in the observed scores are largely due to corresponding differences in the common factor that the test intends to measure. The hypothesis that the test is totally unbiased, however, cannot be proved.
