Abstract
Homogeneity-Heterogeneity on simultaneous search. The objetive of this work was to study the homogeneity-heterogeneity effect in a visual search task, in which the size of the target set was varied from one to three. Stimuli were defined by different values of a same dimension (colour). Two experiments, each with two experimental conditions (OBJ=1 and OBJ>1) were made. In the first experiment similarity among distractors was maximum (homogeneous distractors), while in the second one was low (heterogeneous distractors). The thirty-six participants attended three sessions with three blocks of 320 trials each. Differences found between the results of both experiments reveal that display homogeneity makes the search process significantly better.
