Abstract
Therapeutical principles and clinical possibilities of "functional analytic psychotherapy". The analysis of clinical behavior means a relevant conceptual contribution to the progress of psychotherapy at the present time. The Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP) is one of its most recent developments. In FAP, analysis of behavior is applied to the verbal interchanges that occur in clinical sessions between client and therapist. In this paper, we examine FAP as regards its basic principles, effectiveness and clinical applications. We also exemplify the analysis of the therapeutic relationship that characterizes FAP when applied to personality disorders. Finally, we analyze its influence on the general field of behavior therapy.
