Abstract
Uses and abuses of Eysenck's psychology. Hans Jürgen Eysenck, one of the main figures of the European Psychology of this century, died in London in the summer of 1997. For this reason, his biography and the basic characteristics of his prolific work is reviewed here, emphasizing three of its more representative subjects: his studies on the effects of the psychodinamic psycotherapy and the defense of the behaviour therapy, his investigations on the complex relations between smoking, personality and disease, and, finally, his theory about the biological determinants of Personality.
