Abstract

The study of human intelligence. A revision at the turn of the century. The study of intelligence has been one of the cornerstones of Psychology throughout the Twentieth Century. From the works of pioneers Ch. Spearman, A. Binet and L.L. Thurstone until the present days, advances in this area have been constant but also polemic. Due to the relevance of this area to everyday living, discussions regarding intelligence models and their implications have surpassed the academic framework to become a hot topic of socio-political discussion. Motivated by recent polemics, in this article we wish to describe, yet briefly, what today Psychologists know about human intelligence, and what remains to be discovered. Ours is not a back to the basics description, but instead attempts to provide an instant picture of our continuous quest for understanding the nature of human intelligence.
