Abstract

Multiple logistic regression model and the perception of geometric stimuli. The objective of the present work was to demonstrate the existence of determined perceptual variables, as are the equalities forms and the contrast, that influence the identification and integration of the elements that form the visual image and in forming the gestalt grouping (Treisman, 1988; Treisman and Gelade, 1980; Treisman and Gormican, 1988 and Treisman and Schmidt, 1982) applied to geometric stimuli. Then, the aforementioned factors and using the multiple logistics regression the following results have been found: firstly, the coincidence of stimulus forms and of elements accelerates the integration of the components of the visual stimulus and, therefore, the subjects show a more rapid and exact response. Secondly, the contrast between the elements of the visual image delays the visual perception due to the effect "figure fund" in the gestalt grouping. In this way, the geometric figure's recognition seems to be influenced by the interaction of the form and the elements that make up them according to the objective to detect.
