Abstract
The Use of Computerized Behavioural Tests in Personality Research: The Assessment of Persistence. The purpose of the P avlov System is to measure subject's persistence, as an interactive style of beha viour. Persistence is defined as a behavioural pattern in which the subject displays a sequence of responses seeking for a solution, in spite of a low reinforcement rate. In this article, pr evious works over Pavlov System are presented, and actual design is described. The Pavlov System uses an operant learning task; the subject's goal is to escape computer monitor flashes, by pressing two keys an established number of times. In Pavlov System discriminative trials (ED) and non discriminative trials (E∆) can be presented in two different modes: E D and E∆ trials appear alternatively or all ED trials are presented first, and then all E∆ trials. The pattern of behaviour of 64 subjects is compared in both modes, and a high and significant correlation is obtained. The analysis of datas displays the possibility to develop a conductual tool to the assessment of persistence, as an interactive style.
