Abstract

Protection variables in adolescents use of alcohol and tobacco. The end of this paper, was to know the efect of protection variable in use legal substances. For this reason we use a quasi-experimental methodology with a design of not aleatory groups, applying the "t of Sudent" test with a significance level of 0.05. The used sample was made up of 534 fellows, the 40.4% was males and the 59.6% females, with ages located between the 14 and the 21 years old, students of secondary education. The results showed 14 protection variables, among the 21 measured ones, presenting statistically significant differences, in favor of fellows that didn't consume alcohol habitually. Once again, the "family attachment", the "fact of valuing health" and the "observance of laws or community norms" seem to be variables that could protect the fellows, in determined ages, in front of the habitual consumption of drugs as alcohol and tobacco.
