Abstract

Current programmes of family treatment in schizophrenia. It is presented here a revision of family treatment programmes in schizophrenia carried out since the be ginning of the 1980s, which are based on Zubin and Spring's (1977) vulnerability theory to schizophrenia, and (almost all the programmes) on the Expressed Emotion construct. The aim of all the programmes is to reduce family stress (specifically Expressed Emotion, in the majority of the programmes) in order to attempt to a void relapses. The Ventura, Camberwell, California, Hamburg, Pittsburgh, Salford, Sydney, Birmingham and Andalusia studies are revised.
