Abstract
Methodological Practices in Spanish Psychology: An Analysis throught Psicothema's Life (19901999). The present paper explores in a descriptive way the kind of research methods more frequently used by Spanish researchers in Psychology. The production of Psicothema (1990-1999) has been analysed as an ilustrative Spanish journal in that discipline. A codification system has been ellaborated for the categorization of different types of research designs. 'Study' instead of 'paper' was considered as unit of analysis given the fact that some papers included several studies. Usage proportions of eight types of studies are illustrated: theoretical, experimental, cuasi experimental, observational descriptions, survey studies, instrumental studies, case studies and one subject experimental designs. These proportions are presentad in relation to year of publication. Finally, implications for teaching of issues such as methodological variability and mistakes in interaction's interpretation are discussed.
