Abstract
Efficacious psychological treatments for h ypochondriasis. Firstly, an approach to hypochondria concept and to the problems of the clinical description of hypochondriasis is carry out in order to discuss the psychological treatments effectiveness of this disorder. In this way, a studies review of the therapeutic treatments of hypochondriasis is made. The main conclusion of this review point out that the cognitive and behavioral treatments of hypochondriasis are the only effective psychological treatments. However, the different methodology used in these studies make this conclusion no definitive. Finally, it is sugg ested that the future research about the psychological treatments for hypochondriasis should study the specificity of each treatment for each individual clinical case.
