Abstract
Formulation and validation of a linear log istic model for a task of fraction and mixed numbers addi tion and subtraction. The aim of this study is to analyze the cognitive components involved in a mathematical performance task, namely the addition and substraction of fractional and mixed numbers, using Fisher's linear logistic trait model (LLTM). The validation of the cognitive structure proposed, reflected in the component weight matrix, is performed with the quadratic assignment analysis (QA). The results confirm that the weight matrix describes adequately the cognitive components required to solve the test items.
