Abstract
Adolescence and antisocial behavior. Lykken (2000) proposed a model to understand antisocial behavior. The model considers the interaction between temperament difficulties and the socialization process. The temperament traits are fearlessness, sensation seeking, and impulsivity. Individual differences in those traits interact with contextual factors germane to socialization. The antisocial personalities must score higher on fearlessness, sensation seeking, and impulsivity. The present study assesses 186 imprisoned and 354 adolescents. No significant differences were found between imprisoned and adolescents neither in sensation seeking or fearlessness. Moreover, adolescents scored higher on impulsivity. The results are not in line with Lykken's prediction. However, this adverse finding could have an alternative explanation.
