Abstract

Detection of risk eating behaviours in children aged 11-14. In recent years, great attention has been directed towards eating disorders because of their seriousness and prevalence. Nevertheless, studies trying to detect risk eating behaviours in early childhood that can result in more serious disorders in the future are very limited. In this study, a sample of 819 Spanish children was evaluated with Ballester and Gil's Health-related Information, Attitudes and Behaviour Questionnaire (CIACS-2) (Ballester and Gil, in press). The results show eating behaviours that are a risk for the health of children. 40% of children usually or sometimes avoid fatty foods, 68% check their weight, 4% take laxatives, 7% try to vomit when they have eaten too much and 17% have cried because of their physical figure. We believe prevention is necessary at earlier ages, when eating disorders may be developing.
