Abstract

Francisco Grande Covián and Psychology. Francisco Grande Covián (1909-1995) was born in Colunga, Asturias, Spain. He was among the closest disciples of Dr. Juan Negrín, Professor of Physiology at Universidad Central, Madrid and President of the Spanish Government. Dr. Grande Covián was sentenced by Franco's authorities to ten years of academic ostracism after the Spanish Civil War because of his loyalty to the government. In this period he published four papers in Revista de Psicología General y Aplicada. The content of this papers is studied with special reference to Grande's ideas on the psychophysiology of perception and the psychological mechanisms of hunger and taste.
