Abstract

Programs of change of attitudes towards disability. The research has enhanced that attitudes towards disabled people have not been nor they are mainly positive. This situation outlines the convenience and urgency to start campaigns of making people more sensitive as well as structured interventions with the main goal of promoting changes in those attitudes. With such a purpose, the program of change of attitudes presented in this issue has been carried out. In order to assess the achieved changes and whether they have been maintained, the Evaluation Scale of Terms Associated to Disability - EVT (Aguado and Alcedo, 1999) has been applied. A sample of 83 children in first and second course at high school has been elected, ranging from 12 to 15 years, where 23 of them have been appointed to the experimental group and 60 ones to the control group. In this program as techniques, direct and indirect information, contact, experience and information about technical aids have been used in sessions of structured discussions lasting approximately one hour a week. A three-year follow up has also been carried out. The results suggest that the treatment is effective and it has been maintained along the time, although with oscillations.
