Abstract

Psychometric properties of the reduced versions of Buss and Perry's aggression questionnaire. The aggression questionnaire developed by Buss and Perry (1992) has been one of the most commonly used tools in the study of aggressive behavior. Nevertheless, several researchers have pointed out that its fit to the four-factor model originally proposed by the authors may be unsatisfactory. It is important to note that most of this studies used homogeneous samples of university undergraduates which may explain the difficulties to replicate the factorial structure of the questionnaire. Our study analyzes this fit as well as the internal consistency of the questionnaire and the two reduced versions that have been developed to solve the problems detected. With this purpose we administered the aggression questionnaire to a heterogeneous sample of 237 participants. The results show that the fit of the three analyzed versions to the four-factor model is reasonable and that their internal consistency is adequate.
