About the Journal

Approach and scope

The Feijoo Institute for 18tf century Studies publishes a series entitled Anejos de Cuadernos de Estudios del Siglo XVIII (ACESXVIII): continuators of the previous Cuadernos de la Cátedra Feijoo (1955-1973) and the Anejos del BOCESXVIII (1978-1985), the ACESXVIII are co-edited with Ediciones Trea. This collection of digital books with ISBN includes essays that exceed the framework stated for articles of Cuadernos de Estudios del Siglo XVIII (CESXVIII) due to their approach or length. Proposals for publication are submitted to anonymous peer review and they must be submitted under the reporting requirements of the journal.

The original papers are published in Spanish (Castilian), given the journal’s area of study. However, the Editorial Committee exceptionally accepts -well-founded- originals submitted in other languages.

Blind peer review process

The ACESXVIII only publish original research. The papers received -except Reviews- are submitted to an external and anonymous peer review evaluation system, according to the editorial and academic quality guidelines referred by UNESCO’s Information for All Programme (IFAP). Two specialists designated by the Editorial Board will assess their authenticity, relevance and methodological rigour. Reviewers receive the journal’s evaluation form in which they will examine aspects such as the relevance of the subject addressed in the study, goal fulfilment, the suitability of the applied methodology, the use of primary sources, updated and pertinent bibliographic management, writing and structural clarity and, most importantly, the novelty of the work presented.

Both reports are sent to authors, who must accept the solicited modifications, if there are any. In the case of receiving one favourable and one unfavourable review we will resort to a third assessor’s opinion. A list of reviewers from the last three volumes is annually published on the journal’s website.
