Abstract
We present a new corpus of letters addressed to Jovellanos (BNE, MSS/23306/1). This is the correspondence sent by the Augustinian friar Diego Tadeo González, ‘Delio’, to Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos and the Augustinian priest Miguel Miras, ‘Mireo’, between the end of 1775 and the second half of 1779. Fragments of some of these letters were published by L. A. de Cueto in Poetas líricos del siglo XVIII, later collected by J. M. Caso González in the Obras completas by Jovellanos. In all, there are forty-five letters, thirty-five of which are addressed to Jovellanos; nineteen were unknown in their entirety; and, of these, fifteen were completely unpublished; there is also a letter from a certain ‘Natilo’, of whom only who was only known from another letter in Jovellanos' correspondence. This collection of letters provides new insights into the relationship between the group of poets of Salamanca and Jovelló. of poets from Salamanca with Jovellanos, as well as on their literary production.
