Abstract

A theoretical approach to concept of academic goals and their relationship with school motivation. In this paper we've attempted to make a theoretical and conceptual analysis of the academic goals that the students pursue and its influence on motivation. The main topics dealed with are: The difference between learning goals and performance goals and the respective motivation patterns, the analysis of personal and situational variables that influence in the adoption of one or the other types of goals, as well as the affective, cognitive and behavioral consequences.
