Abstract
Of all the pieces of furniture designed by the Barcelona architects Tous and Fargas between the 50s and 60s of the 20th century, the best-known element was undoubtedly the armchair designed for the Deanery of the College of Architects in 1962. This paper aims to establish the genealogical relationship between this piece and the Parallel-Bar Lounge Chair designed by the American architect Florence Knoll in the 1950s -a design that in turn shows a previous influence on the Barcelona Chair by Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich. For this reason, this is a round trip that shows the variants of the seat in relation to the objectives and the differential technical and economic conditions of each context.
