Abstract
In the Portuguese context at the beginning of the 20th century, the press contributed to the spread of major international movements in architecture and design at the same time made known projects representative of a search for national identity assertion. In the case of the magazine A Construcção moderna e as Artes do Metal, if the housing projects, among other, are the brainchild of architects and decorators predominantly eclectic, in terms of furniture, we assist to dissemination of new concepts in patent work done in workshops joinery artistic and specialized in the art of carving. This publication diffuse parts headquartered in Modern Style, which show its phytomorphic ornaments and exploration of aspects such as modular design, standardization of decorative elements, functionality and integration of industrial solutions. It contributed to thereby through images and small text, to change the taste from less informed public far away from the cosmopolitan life.Downloads
