Nowadays, we're all used to seeing the refrigerator in the kitchen; this appliance has lived with us as far as we can remember. Gone are the days when our grandparents came down to buy blocks of ice to keep food fresh. In 1913 General Electric sold in Chicago, the first electric refrigerator, although not everyone could enjoy it until well into the twentieth century.
