Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Cuadernos de Estudios del Siglo XVIII (CESXVIII)
Introduction
The journal Cuadernos de Estudios del Siglo XVIII (CESXVIII) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and transparency in the use of artificial intelligence (AI). This policy defines guidelines for the appropriate use of AI tools by authors, reviewers and editors.
Fundamental Principles
In accordance with the guidelines of the COPE Statement and scientific best practices:
- AI cannot be credited as an author, as it lacks the capacity to assume responsibility for scientific content.
- AI cannot manage conflicts of interest, copyright, or make ethical decisions.
Guidelines for Authors
- Mandatory Disclosure: Authors must explicitly declare the use of any AI tools in the creation or analysis of their manuscripts, including the software used, its functions, and the sections of the manuscript where it was applied.
- Responsibility for Originality: Authors are responsible for the originality of the content, even if it was generated or assisted by AI. The material must not infringe copyright or plagiarize.
- Thorough Review: Authors must meticulously review and check AI-generated content for bias, errors, or inaccuracies.
- Consequences of Noncompliance: Failure to comply with this policy may result in withdrawal of the manuscript, in accordance with the procedures of the publishing institution and the COPE code of conduct.
