Abstract

A Psychomotor Education Program. The purpose of this research was to make and verify the efficiency of a Psychomotor Education Program. I have pretended to counter the effects of low-birthweight infants in the viso-perceptual, motor and psychomotor performance. A profound study of the Nervous System is made to analyse the possible stimulation of its structures. We describe and study the effects of the low birth weight in the most important areas of the development: intelligence, language, motor area, viso-perceptual integration, memory, logical-mathematical thinking, school performance, socialization and behaviour. Two groups of thirty-three and thirty-four children each were tested with the sub-tests of the McCarthy Scales. The experimental group was given intensive training in the Psychomotor Education Programa for four months. Results revealed that this program considerably improved the scores in many tests, and there seemed to be a better performance among the skills due to the intervention.
