Abstract
In 2018, a set of furniture was identified in a school that had been classified as a Monument Historique and attributed to Charlotte Perriand (1903–1999). Of particular note was a four-legged wooden chair manufactured in 1947 which, at some point, had been restored and assembled upside down. Preserving distorted and devalued furniture in an educational centre that provides training in carpentry seems pointless. This suggests that furniture making and repairing, as taught in carpentry classes, does not consider heritage value. In response, a project was carried out that incorporated historical, heritage and social perspectives. This project involved the school's educational community in the restoration of the chair and the development of a discourse on the subject.
