Abstract
Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a relevant socio-sanitary problem in the Ecuadorian context. Nevertheless, there are not valid and reliable measurement instruments of IPV prevalence for this context. The current research aimed to study the psychometric properties of the Dating Violence Questionnaire – R (DVQ – R; Rodríguez-Díaz et al., 2017) in the Ecuadorian sample. 524 women with ages between 18 and 30 years who had or have had and partner of the opposite sex participated in the study. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to test the fitting of the model to the data and the omega for ordinal data was used to estimate the reliability of the scales. The original model proposed by Rodríguez-Díaz et al. (2017) showed good fitting to the data (χ2 = 280.705, gl = 160, p ≤ .001, CFI = .976, RMSEA = .038 90% I.C. [.030, .045]). All the factor showed satisfactory reliability (ω = .79 - .94). The DVQ – R is a valid and reliable instrument for IPV victimization measurement among Ecuadorian young women.
