Abstract

Patricia Urquiola (Oviedo, Asturias, Spain, 1961) has focused her career on furniture design in Italy, working with some of the legends of the Italian design world, including Achille  Castiglioni  and  Vico  Magistretti.  Both  architect and designer,  she  has  combined  her  work  for  the  furniture  industry  with  other interests.  As an interior designer, she has created  public  and domestic  living spaces  using  with  her  own  furniture  designs.  After living the  firm  De Padova (Milan,   Italy)   in   the   nighties,   Urquiola   designed   an   incredible   amount   of furniture,  paying  special  attention  to  the  seats.  Chairs, armchairs, sofas, stools, chaise    longues and poufs  occupy  Urquiola’s  universe,  where  she  has demonstrated  her  talent  and  her  creative  force  linked  to  her contemporary  and renewed look at the classic and modern furniture. This article shows some of her more interesting reinterpretations.
