ABSTRACT:

Saint Radegunda’s miracles are told, essentially, by her biographers Venancius Fortunatus and Baudovinia. Fifteen more miracles have been added in two manuscripts dating from the XIIth century (miracles 1-13) and the XVth century (miracles 14 and 15). As a legendary complement a mention must be made of the well known “miracle of the oats”. Within this group of miracles it is worth studying, on the one hand, Saint Radegunda’s miracles-punishments in relation with those of other saints from the high Middle Ages (“Appendix I”) and, on the other, the impact that the topic of miracle-legend has made in later literature, art and folklore (“Appendis II”).

KEY WORDS: Saint Radegunda, miracles, miracles-punishments, miracles-legend.
