Abstract
The research work carried out by Professor Emilio Alarcos Llorach had a direct impact on his university teaching, both in his undergraduate and doctoral studies. The basis of his methodology is based on a solid knowledge of a linguistic-historical nature, at the phono-phonological, morpho-syntactic and semantic levels, in order to, on the basis of this, delve into structuralism. From a profound knowledge of standard language, Professor Alarcos tackles the description and interpretation of literary language, which, without losing its original semantic values, opens up to new artistic worlds by means of linguistic signs in their social use, that is to say, by means of the word.
