Abstract

The administrative construct called “nation” has lost many of its capacities to influence reality. In this context, the nature of politics has changed. Politics has become another sort of entertainment. Democracy dilutes amid new tendencies. This article aims to analyse how contemporary TV shows and documentary films reflect this reality. We will carry out this task by analysing relevant products and confronting their content with the ideas of philosophers and thinkers who will contribute to contextualise our thesis. We have selected some representative shows on how the degradation of politics can be traced from popular shows to film documentaries that abound in the need for a critical perspective about politics and their transformation in entertainment.
