Gender Equality Policy

JACLR is committed to gender balance, as reflected in the composition of its editorial team, board of advisors and board of referees.

  • Inclusive Language Policy: Authors must use inclusive language that avoids bias or discriminatory expressions based on race, gender, or socioeconomic status. Texts should not promote, reinforce, or exploit unjustified, unfair, or irrelevant distinctions between, or attitudes toward, genders. Language that demeans, ignores, or stereotypes any gender must be avoided.

  • Gender and Sex in Research: Research must avoid gender stereotypes and biases, including the assumption of the male gender as a universal standard or the naturalization of socially constructed discriminatory differences. Authors must state whether the original data collected in their research accounts for gender or sex, allowing potential gender differences to be identified.
