The article shows the historical context in which they occurred civil law studies (roman) in San Basilio Magno Seminary of Santiago de Cuba, one of the two ecclesiastics Seminars Cubans of the time, (XVIII and XIX century) texts, authors, and characteristics of his teaching, as part of the diffusion process of the law of Rome in the island under Spanish political dominance..
