Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • As a general rule, articles should not exceed 10,000 words (including text from any tables or illustrations).
  • Asturian is the main language, but papers may be published in other languages
  • Before publication, the Editorial Board will anonymously send proposed articles to two external reviewers, who will report to Lletres Asturianes on the scientific quality of the papers. This double-blind peer review process is a necessary condition for the final acceptance of papers.
  • Lletres Asturianes is responsible for any corrections of spelling, punctuation, and style in manuscripts to be published. Authors must agree to correct a text proof.
  • Each article must include the title and the author’s name. For this purpose, a card should be attached to the article with the author’s email and ORCID iD number. If the author does not have an ORCID iD, it can be obtained by registering at the following link: https://orcid.org/register. The submitted work should also include an abstract of approximately 300 words, reflecting the content of the article, and a list of key words with a maximum of five words. In the final draft, the abstract and the key words will appear in Asturian, Spanish, and English. The title will also appear in English.

Author Guidelines

The presentation of the paper should follow the general rules of style listed below:

  • The title should be in bold, font size 14, with only the first word capitalized.
  • The main body of the text should be in normal font size 11, with single spacing.
  • Captions or headings should be presented in bold small caps, bold italic, italic, etc., as appropriate, and should be capitalized only at the beginning.
  • Within the text, words you want to highlight should be in italics, never in capital letters. Quotations should be written “in quotes”; if the quotation is short, it may be included within the paragraph; if it is long, it should be presented in a separate indented paragraph in font size 10.
  • Etymons should be presented in small caps. Phonological and phonetic transcriptions should usually follow the IPA system.
  • Maps, diagrams, and charts should be presented in editable format or with a minimum resolution of 300 ppi. If they are in image format, they should follow the general style recommended for the main text. These should be inserted in their proper place within the text or be accompanied by an indication of their proper placement.
  • Footnotes should be prepared according to these same guidelines and in font size 9.
  • The list of references included at the end of the article should be presented in font size 9, with a 0.6 cm hanging indent and following the specified model.
