Resumen
RESUMEN:
En el presente estudio referido al mueble religioso cubano resulta muy significativo el que por primera vez se incluya el dujo, asiento utilizado por el behique, especie de sacerdote que efectuaba las ceremonias de la cultura taína extendida por toda la zona del Caribe, particularmente en Cuba. Dicho asiento no formó parte del ajuar doméstico, sino que jugó un papel fundamental en el conocido rito de la cohoba. El recorrido que se realiza a partir del mueble ceremonial de tipo religioso de los primeros pobladores de Cuba, seguido del análisis de los modestos y escasos muebles de los siglos XVI, XVII y principios del XVIII, permite comprender cómo el despegue de la economía intensificado a fines del siglo XVIII provoca la producción de muebles de características bien diferentes que ya pueden clasificarse como criollos o cubanos, cuya calidad y belleza compiten con los mejores de América Latina de su tiempo.

ABSTRACT:
In this researche about the cuban religious furniture it is very important that, for the first time, the dujo has been included. This seat had been udsed by the behique, sort of chaman, that accomplished the ceremonies of tayno culture extended in the entire Caribbean Zone, particulary Cuba. This seat, was not part of the household furniture, instead it played a principal role in the ceremony of la cohoba. The present journey, starting by the religious ceremonial furniture of the first cuban settlers, followed by the analisys of the scarce and modest furniture of XVI, XVII and early XVIII centuries, allows to understand how the economy assence of late XVIII century, provoque the production of quite diferent characteristics furniture that can be clasified as creole or cuban. The cuality and beauty of this furniture compite with the best of Latin America of its time.
