Abstract
In this article the author analyses the projects for America Square in Oviedo/Uviéu, a space where it was planned to erect a monument commemorating Asturian emigration in the mid-20th century. While the sculptural tribute did materialise in Gijón/Xixón, administrative and economic difficulties made it impossible to erect it in Oviedo/Uviéu. This unrealised project is yet another example, testimony and symbol of the importance of the migratory phenomenon for Asturian society. The aim of this essay is to provide a study of this unknown project, its conception and its destination.
