Abstract

We study the reasons for the widow's obligation to respect the tempus lugendi before getting second or subsequent marriage. We estimate that in the archaic to the religious basis of respect for the deceased Manes adds an obligation to respect and not to disturb the succession expectations of the paterfamilias.
